I don't know if it was one of your threads I had posted this information on or another members thread, but Simple Green is some good **** to use for the flush.Drain your radiator and other cooling system parts as good as you can, remove the thermostat(this will let the solution flow freely without encountering any restrictions)reinstall the thermostat housing, fill the radiator back up with a 50/50 mixture of Simple Green & water.Drive the car for 10-15 minutes so the water pump will circulate the solution better, from running the engine at higher rpm's rather than it just idling.Drain the system, refill with water, idle for 10-15 minutes, drain, replace thermostat, fill with 50/50 mixture of antifreeze and water. I would get the parts store guy to pull the 90-93 sensor/cap off the shelf and ask if he'all let you take it outside so you can trial fit it to your bottle. If it fits, then you'll know you can buy it,buy one just like it at the pull a part or at least match another (in store) cap to the same size as the bottles bottom hole diameter I looked the 88 model up and a LCS isn't shown for that year,so the 87-89 must have not come with one.Just pull that sensor out and find a cap that will fit the bottle or buy a sensor, like shown below,at the pull a part and use the cap you've got.Is that cap supposed to be for a 87-89 or did the parts store give you the wrong one maybe? The bulky portion of the sensor pushes/screws onto the bottle then the cap snaps onto that part on my LX.You might be able to go to the parts store and get them to pull the sensor for a 90-93 model then find a cap that's the same size as the bottom of that sensor & it would then snap onto the bottle. If you get the cap that fits onto the top of the sensor(like you've got right now)its gonna be too big/small for the actual bottle.Maybe you can get them to measure the bottom side of the 90-93 sensor or just measure your bottle opening size & that should give you the exact size.SU7034 is the part # for the sensor/cap shown below(90-93)but a part and # wasn't shown for the 87-89 model. Not sure how much this part is,but that would be another option(buy the new sensor)It would suck to have to do that though, since you don't even need this sensor. OK mine looks exactly like the one shown below. As you can see,if you had this type sensor on your bottle, the cap you've got would fit it perfectly. Yeah you can do that.If you read, the 90-93 are the only models with the LCS,you shouldn't even have a low coolant light on the dash or if you do have that sensor, the bulb could be burn out.The next time you turn the key on,see if you notice a low coolant light lighting up.Im not 100% positive, but I believe my light comes on when the key is first turned. There is not a fuse specifically for the low coolant light, but you can check fuses #5 & #15 ,theyre for the fluids module and fluids module display.Maybe the previous owner couldn't find the original cap that goes with that sensor so he just used alum foil instead. On my 91 LX,I've got a semi bulky cap with a molded on wiring harness connecter then a long skinny(slightly larger than the egr valve vacuum hose)tube connected to the bottom of the cap and at the very bottle of that tube there's a squared off looking piece with terminals on it(used for the sensor element) If nobody posts a picture by tomorrow morning, I'll take one of mine and post it.It looks quite different from the one you've got.Regardless,if you don't have a light coming on,just remove the sensor like you mentioned and put your cap on it.A low coolant light doesn't cause any trouble codes and it won't cause driveability issues either. Its just there for your convenience as a safety reminder. If the light was on,you could probably just make a jumper wire to go across the sensors wiring harness terminals to turn the light back off.I'm beginning to wonder if mine is supposed to have the same long wider tube on it too, that maybe covers the smaller tube I referred to above.Does that tube come free from the cap and if so do you see a smaller tube underneath it?Just curious.
